Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question? You’re not alone! Here are some of the most
common questions I get asked about my bookkeeping services. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to get in touch. I’m always happy to help.

How is a bookkeeper different from an accountant?

Bookkeepers handle the daily financial tasks — like recording transactions, reconciling bank accounts, and    tracking expenses. Accountants use that information to prepare financial statements, offer tax advice, and file returns. I also work directly with your accountant to make year-end smooth and stress-free.

Do I really need a bookkeeper for my small business?

Absolutely. Whether you're a freelancer, sole trader, or small business owner, having a bookkeeper helps save time, avoid costly mistakes, and keep your finances in order so you can focus on what you do best.

What bookkeeping software do you use?

I use Xero, but if you already use a different software, I will help you get set up on Xero.

How often will you update my books?

That depends on your business and your preferences. I offer weekly, monthly, or quarterly bookkeeping services — we’ll discuss what will work best for your business during our initial consultation.

How much do your bookkeeping services cost?

Pricing depends on the size and complexity of your business, as well as the level of support you need. I offer a free, no-obligation consultation to better understand your requirements and provide you with a tailored quote. If you’d like to find out more, simply fill out the enquiry form or drop me an email.

Are you certified or qualified?

I hold a BSc degree in Accounting and Finance, which provided me with a strong foundation in financial principles and business accounting. I’m also Xero Certified, meaning I’m trained to use Xero’s cloud accounting software    efficiently and effectively to support your business needs.

Will I still have access to my financial data?

Absolutely. You’ll always have access to your financial records through the cloud-based software we use (Xero.) During our initial consultation, we’ll discuss what level of access you need — whether that’s read-only or full  standard access — so you feel confident and in control of your business finances at all times.

Can you help me get caught up if I’m behind on my bookkeeping?

Yes, I can! Falling behind on your bookkeeping happens more often than you’d think — and there’s no need to feel overwhelmed. Whether you're a few months behind or haven’t touched your books in a year, I’ll work with you to get everything up to date in a clear, manageable way. We’ll start with a chat to assess where things stand and create a plan to get you back on track.

What if I collect paper receipts? Can you still work with me?

If you have paper receipts, there are a few easy options. You can scan or photograph them and send them to me digitally. Or, If you're local, we can also discuss the best way to collect your receipts in the initial consultation. I’ll help you find a system that works for you and keeps everything organised.

Can you help me with VAT returns and management reports?

I offer support with VAT filing, depending on your registration status and needs, and provide regular management reports so you can understand your business performance in real time.

Do you sign a confidentiality or data protection agreement?

Confidentiality and data protection are extremely important to me. I’m committed to handling your financial       information with the highest level of care and professionalism. I’m happy to sign a confidentiality or data protection agreement to give you added peace of mind. I also follow GDPR guidelines to ensure your data is stored and managed securely.
